The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals reversed the dismissal of the sexual and racial harassment claims of a Black, female employee of Ford Motor Co.

The plaintiff was hired by Ford in June 2018 as a process coach/production supervisor at the company’s Dearborn Truck Plant. Process coaches are the immediate supervisors to hourly employees working on the assembly line. She was assigned to the frame and engine line.

In July 2018, the plaintiff’s team manager assigned her to shadow another process coach to continue her training on how to run the frame and engine line. Shadowing consisted of following around the process coach, watching the jobs being performed, and learning how to input and adjust time entries.
