How Many of Your Employees Live Paycheck to Paycheck?

Most of us think of “living paycheck to paycheck” as a condition afflicting the poor and low paid, but we’re wrong. Living paycheck to paycheck is a problem up and down the income ladder, and it’s one that businesses, not just workers, can and must address. Doing so isn’t just the right thing to do—it’s the profitable thing to do.

A survey by CareerBuilder found a whopping 78% of U.S. workers said they were living paycheck to paycheck. Other studies show that roughly one-quarter of Americans have no emergency savings at all; another one-quarter have less than the recommended minimum 3 months’ living expenses. A Creditcards.com survey found that 65% of Americans say they lose sleep over money worries. Even 10% of those earning over $100,000 a year worry about making ends meet.
