Indonesia is taking significant steps to elevate the competencies of its workforce through strategic partnerships with international organizations. Realizing the critical role of human resource development in economic growth, the country’s Manpower Ministry, led by Minister Ida Fauziyah, has embarked on collaboration with entities such as the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), and the International Labour Organization (ILO). This cooperation serves to tackle some of the most pressing challenges in the labor market, primarily the skill gap between what the educational institutions produce and the competencies industries require. It is evident that without the proper skills, Indonesian workers may struggle to compete in a globalized economy. The current focus is on aligning the output of educational endeavors with the dynamic and evolving demands of various industries—particularly the sectors earmarked for growth and international competition. To this end, these international partnerships seek to bring global perspectives, practices, and expertise to Indonesian shores, thereby elevating the quality and relevance of vocational and professional training programs.
