When HR executives at medical device company Medtronic embarked two years ago on a multiyear project to transform their HR processes, they envisioned using new and innovative technologies to replace manual HR processes in talent acquisition, internal mobility and compensation operations.
Carol Surface, Medtronic’s senior vice president and chief human resources officer in Minnesota, wanted to change the company’s HR direction by improving organizational transformation, enterprise talent management planning, leadership development and other HR initiatives. New technology, she believed, would advance these goals.
